BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Ding Shisun, former chairman of the China Democratic League (CDL), died at the age of 93 in Beijing on Saturday.
A renowned mathematician, educator and social activist, Ding was a vice-chairperson of the 9th and 10th standing committees of the National People's Congress, and chairman of the 7th, 8th and 9th central committees of the CDL, according to an official statement.
He was also former head of the Western Returned Scholars Association and former president of Peking University. He was an excellent member of the Communist Party of China, the statement reads.
