DUBAI, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Non-oil trade between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Russia climbed to 14.1 billion U.S. dollars over the past five years, a UAE official said Sunday.
This was up from 3.4 billion dollars in 2018 and 2.5 billion dollars in 2017, UAE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for Foreign Trade Affairs Abdullah Al Saleh told the state-run WAM news agency in an interview.
"Bilateral and economic ties between the UAE and Russia have witnessed significant overall growth within their comprehensive strategic partnership announced last year," Saleh said.
The UAE ranks first among member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in terms of direct investment in Russia, while Russia's investment in the UAE exceeding 2 billion dollars, he said.
"Over 3,000 Russian companies are currently operating in the UAE, mainly in real estate, trade, manufacturing and telecoms, along with 576 trademarks, and 25 registered commercial agencies," Saleh said. Enditem
