XINING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Electric boilers covering an area of 1.52 million square meters have been established in Sanjiangyuan, northwest China's Qinghai Province, with 192,600 tonnes of carbon emission reduced annually, State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Company said Sunday.
Coal-fired boilers were taken out of service and electric boilers of 112,720 kilowatts have been established in five counties in Sanjiangyuan, home to the headwaters of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers, according to the company.
Clean heating in the area has helped cut costs and benefited about 60,000 residents.
