DOHA, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Qatar on Tuesday denied that it offered support for the Muslim Brotherhood, Nusra Front or any other organizations, stressing that these allegations "do not make sense."
"The question of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood was in fact faked in the aftermath of the Arab Spring as some countries were scared they could be involved in those uprisings," Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said in statements.
Citing Egypt and Tunisia, the Qatari top diplomat said his country continued to support the two countries regardless whether they were ruled by the Muslim Brotherhood or any other side.
"The same thing applies to the rest of Arab countries from Somalia to Libya. Qatar supports legitimate governments as long as they work on the welfare and progress of their peoples," said Sheikh Mohammed.
He also dismissed as "illogical" reports that Qatar had ties with Nusra Front.
"Unfortunately, some countries sponsored these campaigns against Qatar through misleading media reports," said the Qatari foreign minister.
