TEHRAN, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif discussed the latest regional developments in northern Syria with the Russian, Iraqi and Syrian foreign ministers, official IRNA news agency reported on Friday.
Zarif held conversations with his counterparts on phone on Thursday, the report said without elaboration.
Iran will hold talks with the officials of other countries as well over the recent issues in the region.
Following recent U.S. withdrawal of the United States from northern Syria, Turkish soldiers last Wednesday launched an assault on Kurdish fighters, whom Turkey considers as "terrorists" in northern Syria.
On Thursday, Turkey agreed on a five-day ceasefire in northeastern Syria to allow for withdrawal of Kurdish forces.
