Film featuring Chinese women's volleyball team set for January release

Chinese film "Leap", starring Gong Li and featuring Chinese women's volleyball, will be released in January.

BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- "Leap," a film that puts the spotlight on the Chinese women's national volleyball team, is set for theatrical release on Jan. 25, 2020, the Chinese Lunar New Year's Day, according to the China Film Distribution and Exhibition Association.

The film is a cinematic depiction of the struggle of several generations of Chinese women's volleyball team players to win glory for the country.

Starring Gong Li, the film is directed by renowned filmmaker Peter Ho-Sun Chan, who is best known for directing the films "Comrades: Almost a Love Story," "Perhaps Love," "The Warlords" and "American Dreams in China."
