Chinese embassy in close contact with UK police after lorry container death report

LONDON, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese embassy in Britain on Thursday said it is in close contact with British police to seek clarification and confirmation after media reports that the 39 deceased found in a lorry container in Essex were Chinese nationals.

"We read with heavy heart the reports about the death of 39 people in Essex, England. We are in close contact with the British police to seek clarification and confirmation of the relevant reports," the embassy said in a statement.■
