BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Boca Juniors have the most season-ticket holders in Argentine football, followed by their Buenos Aires rivals River Plate, according to new figures published by the Argentine Football Association (AFA).
Some 206,708 Boca fans have had season tickets in the past two seasons, almost 55,000 more than River Plate, the AFA said in a study published on Friday.
Independiente are third with 83,430 and Racing fourth with 70,100.
River had the highest average attendance figures over the period with 48,703, eclipsing Boca's median total of 43,141. River benefit from a larger home venue, with their Monumental stadium boasting capacity of 61,688 compared to the 54,525 limit at Boca's La Bombonera.
The largest social media following was also a close call between Argentina's two biggest clubs, with Boca's 15.72 million edging out River's 14.85 million.
