COPENHAGEN, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Denmark men's handball team defeated Norway in the latest edition of the Golden League tournament at the Gigantium in the city of Aalborg, Denmark, on Saturday.
The Danes got off to a bad start and were trailing 19-15 behind vibrant Norway at half-time. It was a similar story in the second half until midway through the Danish team seemed to wake up and began battling as the Norwegians failed to take advantage of all their opportunities.
Denmark never took the lead at any point during the game but the World Champions managed to tie the match with Norway at the last minute at 29-29 in regular playing time.
The ensuing penalty shoot-out, saw Denmark begin and Denmark ended it.
With both teams scoring, ball-stopper Jannick Green became the hero of the Danish team when he saved the Norwegians' fourth penalty.
Denmark secured an unlikely victory in their last match of 2019, ending the year undefeated.
The Golden League is a friendly international handball competition, created in 2012 at the initiative of the Danish, French and Norwegian Handball Federations.
