FREETOWN, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Table Tennis Association (SLTTA) has on Saturday launched the Bintumani Cup 2019 International Table Tennis Tournament.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the third edition of this annual event, Wang Xinmin, counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone said that he is happy that Sierra Leoneans are embracing the sport through the sponsorship provided by the embassy.
He noted that Sierra Leoneans are so gifted and passionate about the sport, which he said is very applicable and cost-efficient.
"The game is played by everyone regardless of age. With sponsorship from the embassy, you have already achieved better results," he said.
"Through sport, we could improve our expertise and promote our relationship," he said.
He called on the players to display their talent and promote the relationship between the two countries.
President of the Sierra Leone Table Tennis Association, Henry Frazer, said the event reflects the strong bond between China and Sierra Leone, stating that China has helped in all developments across Sierra Leone.
