AMMAN, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Senate on Sunday highlighted its keenness on the unity of Syria, voicing rejection of any Turkish presence on the Syrian territories, state-run Petra news agency reported.
Jordan's stances toward the Syrian crisis are clear and constant, said Faisal Fayez, president of Jordan's Senate, said during his meeting with Shaqiq Dayoub, charge d'affaires at the Syrian Embassy in Amman.
Since the start of the crisis in Syria, Jordan has been emphasizing the need for a political solution to preserve the unity of the country and its people, Fayez noted, demanding an end to the suffering of the Syrian refugees.
Jordan is interested in the restoration of stability and security in Syria and the two countries enjoy historical ties, he said.
The Jordanian speaker also called for increased efforts to boost trade ties between the two sides.
For his part, Dayoub said he highly valued Jordan's stances toward his country, underling the importance of enhancing efforts to boost ties in various areas.
According to official figures, Jordan is home to 1.3 million Syrian refugees and since the reopening of borders between the two countries, only around 40,000 refugees returned home.
