RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Brazil forward Everton Cebolinha scored his ninth league goal of the season as Gremio ended a three-game losing streak with a 3-0 home victory over Botafogo in Brazil's Serie A championship on Sunday.

Maicon put the hosts ahead in the 12th minute before Thaciano and Everton found the net in the second half at Arena do Gremio in Porto Alegre.

Gremio remained seventh in the 20-team standings, one point outside the automatic Copa Libertadores places, while Botafogo dropped to 13th, just four points clear of the relegation zone.

The clash came four days after Gremio lost 5-0 at Flamengo in the second leg of their Copa Libertadores semifinal, a result that dumped the Porto Alegre club out of South America's top club tournament.

Meanwhile, Uruguay midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta scored a ninth-minute winner as leaders Flamengo beat CSA 1-0 at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Arrascaeta capitalized on good work from Everton Ribeiro before showing clever footwork to leave defender Alan Costa on his backside and then coolly firing a low shot past goalkeeper Joao Carlos.

Flamengo, unbeaten in their past 19 fixtures across all competitions, maintained their 10-point lead over second-placed Palmeiras, who won 2-1 at Avai earlier on Sunday.

In other matches, Athletico Paranaense won 4-1 at home to Goias and Sao Paulo defeated Atletico Mineiro 2-0 at home.
