An exhibition is held to mark the 120th birth anniversary of Chinese painting master Qian Songyan at Wuxi Museum in east China's Jiangsu Province.

NANJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- More than 100 pieces of artworks created by Qian Songyan (1899-1985), an iconic figure of Chinese landscape painting, are on display at Wuxi Museum in east China's Jiangsu Province.

The exhibition that marks the artist's 120th birth anniversary kicked off on Sunday and brought together Qian's paintings and calligraphic works on New China since 1949.

The exhibits showcased are divided into five sections based on the developing venation of Qian's artistic life and works, especially on the scenery and rural life on the lower reaches of the Yangtze, as well as municipal works in the region.

From the 1950s, Qian embarked on a long journey across eight provinces in central and southern China, drawing inspiration from the magnificent mountains and rivers he encountered.

Wuxi Museum has the largest and most complete assemblage of Qian's artworks in China, which exerted a profound influence on Chinese paintings of the shanshui (mountains and waters) genre in the mid-20th century.

The exhibition will last until February 2020.
