JERUSALEM, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Israel's military said on Tuesday it intercepted a drone that was flying over the Palestinian coastal enclave of Gaza Strip.
An Israeli military spokesperson said in a statement that the drone was identified "at an unusual altitude over the Gaza Strip."
"IDF (Israel Defense Forces) launched fighter jets and intercepted it," the statement added.
In October, the Israeli military downed a drone crossing from Gaza into Israeli territory.
The incident came amidst weekly demonstrations, held by Palestinians near the fence between Gaza Strip and Israel, to protest the 12-year-long crippling blockade Israel has imposed on Gaza.
A total of 313 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces during the clashes since the rallies began in March 2018, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
