KAMPALA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's new head coach Jonathan McKinstry on Wednesday named a 25-man squad for the start of preparations for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Cranes, Uganda's national football team, is scheduled to start their campaign with an away game on Nov. 13 against Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou.
McKinstry will have his first home game in Kampala against Malawi on Nov. 17 at the Ugandan national stadium at Namboole.
"We are starting training with the home-based players before the professionals join in. It will be a very tricky game because Burkina Faso has not lost at home in a long time," said McKinstry.
After missing out on AFCON since 1978, The Cranes qualified for the 2017 and 2019 AFCON tournaments.
The squad includes Dennis Onyango, Robert Odongkara, Charles Lukwago, Ronald Mukiibi, Nico Wakiro Wadada, Bevis Mugabi, Murushid Jjuuko, Timothy Denis Awany, Hassan Wasswa Mawanda, Halid Lwaliwa, Isaac Muleme, and Joseph Ochaya.
The others include Michael Azira, Khalid Aucho, Tadeo Lwanga, Nicholas Kasozi, Allan Okello, Allan Kyambadde, Emmanuel Arnold Okwi, Patrick Henry Kaddu, Alexis Bbakka, Fahad Bayo, Farouk Miya, Abdu Lumala, and William Kizito Luwagga.
