UNITED NATIONS, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- The partnership between the United Nations and the African Union (AU) continues to grow from strength to strength, said Hanna Tetteh, special representative of the UN secretary-general to the AU, on Wednesday.

"There has been a quantum leap in our joint strategic cooperation," said Tetteh, who also heads the UN Office to the AU. "Our collaboration in addressing peace and security issues in Africa is becoming more systematic and predictable."

The UN envoy noted that the world body and the regional group recognize and leverage each other's relative strengths and comparative advantages "in pursuit of a common objective, which is collective peace, security and development."

The UN and the AU signed the Joint Framework for Enhanced Partnership in Peace and Security in 2017. The two bodies have collaboration in peace and security in many African countries, including Madagascar, the Central African Republic, Sudan, Somalia and Mali.
