KIEV, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday that "information and humanitarian policy" should be the priority in efforts to achieve peace and reintegrate the east part of the country.

"Besides diplomacy, our priority is the information and humanitarian policy regarding Donbas," said Zelensky at the Unity Forum, dedicated to the institutionalization of dialogue between society and government, in the southeastern city of Mariupol.

"After five years of war, a state strategy for the safe reintegration of Donbas should finally appear," said the president, adding that this strategy should include four mandatory components, one of which is transparency and publicity.

"The state should not only explain its steps, but also find the right paths together with the society and initiate a large-scale national dialogue," said Zelensky.

The violence in Donbas broke out in March 2014 as separatist forces clashed with government forces. There have been dozens of ceasefires since the conflict erupted.
