PHNOM PENH, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- The body of British woman Amelia Bambridge, who disappeared last week in southwestern Cambodia's Preah Sihanouk province, was found in the sea on Thursday, a Cambodian deputy navy chief said.
The 21-year-old woman went missing on the tourist island of Koh Rong on the night of Oct. 23 after a beach party, and her belongings including her handbag, cellphone and bank cards were found on a rock near the sea.
Her body was recovered in the sea in Koh Kong province, dozens of kilometers from where she disappeared, said Rear Admiral Tea Sokha, deputy commander of the Royal Cambodian Navy.
"After seven days of search for missing Amelia Bambridge, our naval forces found her body floating in the sea near the Cambodia's maritime border with Thailand," he told Xinhua.
More than 100 people, including Cambodian police, divers and navy personnel, had taken part in a land and sea search for Bambridge after her disappearance was reported to police by her friends.
