BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron will attend the opening ceremony of the second China International Import Expo and pay a state visit to China from Nov. 4-6 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
Born in Amiens, northeast France in 1977, Macron graduated from Paris Nanterre University before studying at Paris Institute of Political Studies and National School of Administration.
Macron was appointed deputy secretary general of the Elysee in 2012 and minister of economy, industry and digital affairs in 2014. He created his own political movement "En March!" (On the Move!) in 2016 and ran for president as an independent candidate.
He was elected the eighth president of the French Fifth Republic and the 11th president in the history of France on May 7, 2017, and took office on May 14.
Macron is married to Brigitte Macron.
