PRAGUE, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Top Czech tennis player Karolina Pliskova, 27, has ended cooperation with her Spanish trainer Conchita Martinez, who had been a member of her coach team since August last year.
Pliskova, former world No. 1 and now the second in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) ranking, won four titles this year on four different surfaces led by Martinez.
"I decided I will no longer work with Conchita. It was tough decision, as the season was great. Thank you for all this year, and wish u only the best. Life is a change!!!" Pliskova tweeted on Thursday.
Pliskova is already negotiating with a new coach, said Karolina's manager Michal Hrdlicka. The name of the new coach will be known by the beginning of the preparation for a new season, he added. Pliskova is now waiting for a few weeks of tennis pause and will start preparing for the next season at the end of November.
Pliskova started cooperating with Martinez, the Wimbledon winner from 1994, after the 2018 US Open tournament when Martinez joined Australian Rennae Stubbs in Pliskova's coaching team.
