RAMALLAH, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- More than 10 Palestinians were injured Saturday by Israeli forces at the northern entrance of the West Bank city of Ramallah, according to medics.
Medics on site said all injuries are light to moderate.
Dozens of Palestinians, mostly students of Birzeit University in the city, held a demonstration in solidarity with Gaza in the wake of the latest wave of violence that left 34 Palestinians killed, including eight children, and dozens injured.
The demonstrators torched tires and blocked the road near the Israeli military checkpoint at the Bet El settlement, an Israeli settlement located in the center of the West Bank, in expression of anger over the casualties in Gaza.
Israeli forces responded by shooting rubber coated bullets and tear gas grenades towards the demonstrators.
A masked demonstrator who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the purpose of this march "is to show Israel that we will never be silenced as it continues its bombing against Gaza, and its violation in the West Bank."
The clashes continued intermittently, as demonstrators continued to approach the soldiers and hurl stones towards them.
No injuries were reported by Israeli army.
