COLOMBO, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Newly-elected Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will visit India on Nov. 29, as his first official visit after assuming office, local media reported Wednesday.
Rajapaksa will visit India, after an invitation was extended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi which was conveyed through Indian External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar who met Rajapaksa in Colombo on Tuesday.
Rajapaksa said in a statement on his official twitter account that he would discuss key aspects of regional security, peace and economic development with Modi.
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, while congratulating Rajapaksa over his election victory, also extended an invitation to him to visit Pakistan at his earliest.
