MOGADISHU, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. military has said it killed an al-Shabab militant in an airstrike in southern Somalia.
The U.S. Africa Command (Africom) said the latest strike was conducted on Tuesday in cooperation with the Somali government in the vicinity of Kunyo Barrow.
"Strikes near Qunyo Barrow disrupt al-Shabab's freedom of maneuver and ability to organize. The individual targeted had direct ties to the al-Qaida terror organization," Africom said in a statement issued Tuesday evening.
No civilians were injured or killed in the operation, the statement said.
