LAGOS, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- A group of unidentified gunmen attacked a town in the northern state of Kaduna, abducting a nursing mother with her 3-week-old baby and six others, a local security source told Xinhua on Thursday.
The gunmen invaded Hayin Danmani community in Igabi area of the state late into night on Tuesday, the source said, adding that the kidnappers revisited the community on Wednesday night.
The source said the gunmen shot sporadically into the air and went from house to house to pick their victims.
A community leader told Xinhua on the condition of of anonymity that fear had gripped the entire community following the abduction.
He said while the kidnappers picked the nursing mother and her 3-week-old baby, the husband escaped. The kidnappers made away with six other people who were mostly peasants.
The police is yet to confirm the incident.
