JAKARTA, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian top badminton players will compete the Indonesia Masters 2020 next year in the country, head of the Indonesian Badminton Association Wiranto announced announced on Friday.
Among the players are Jonatan Christie, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti as well as Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu, media reported on Friday.
The international sports event is slated to take place from January 14 to 19 at the Istora Senayan sports stadium in the country's capital of Jakarta.
Wiranto said world top badminton players will take this opportunity to secure points for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
"This tournament could be made as an event to maximally collect points ahead of the 2020 Olympics. The world's top shuttlers will certainly take this opportunity," he said.
The tournament offers a total prize of 400,000 U.S. dollars, according to him.
