NEW YORK, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- China's Yan Wengang snatched the gold medal in skeleton during the 2019-2020 International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) North American Cup held in Lake Placid, U.S. on Friday.
It is the first stop in the new season for the China male skeleton team.
Yan had a smooth race with a fast start during the first round in a shared leading 54.03 seconds with second placed German athlete Martin Rosenberger.
He kept up with another leading time of 54.13 seconds in his second race despite a slowdown in the last curve to finish first overall.
Rosenberger could manage a second race in 54.98 seconds, ranking fourth in the round to settle with silver.
Samoa's Nathan Crumpton was third overall clocking 54.74 and 54.34 seconds respectively.
