TOKYO, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Japan's star figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu was untouchable in the men's competition at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating NHK Trophy on Saturday. He won the title on 305.05 points, with over 55 points to spare.
Hanyu, the two-time reigning Olympic champion, landed four quad jumps to score 195.71 to lead the free skate after winning Friday's short program. Despite an under-rotated quad toeloop, the 24-year-old's program was elegant and beautiful.
Kevin Aymoz of France was second with 250.02 and Canada's Roman Sadovsky third in 247.50.
Hanyu, who also won the Skate Canada earlier this season, will now move on to December's Grand Prix Final in Turin, Italy.
"It seems like it's been a long time since I've skated in Japan," said Hanyu, who has struggled with injury the past few seasons and lost to Nathan Chen in the World Championships in March. "The energy the home fans propelled me here and I think I can that energy will be a springboard for me going into the Grand Prix Final."
Russia's Alena Kostornaia took top honors in the women's competition for her second title of the Grand Prix series. The 16-year-old scored 154.96 in her free skate and totalled 240.00 for the title.
Rika Kihira of Japan claimed the silver medal in 231.84 and Olympic Champion Alina Zagitova of Russia moved up one place to take the bronze with 217.99. All three qualified for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final.
Earlier Saturday, China's Olympic silver medalists Sui Wenjing/Han Cong skated to a confident victory with a score of 226.96. Canada's Kirsten Moore-Towers/Michael Marinaro earned the silver medal and the bronze went to Anastasia Mishina/Aleksandr Galliamov of Russia. All three teams qualified for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final.
In ice dance, four-time world champions Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron of France were untouchable and set new high scores 226.61 on their way to the gold. Russia's Alexandra Stepanova/Ivan Bukin earned the silver in 208.81 and, like the French, a ticket to the GP Final next month. Charlene Guignard/Marco Fabbri of Italy took the bronze with 198.06.
China's Wang Shiyue/Liu Xinyu came in fifth.
