Vietnam's white paper on defense released

HANOI, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam on Monday published its white paper on national defense, the first time since 2009.

The document, named 2019 Vietnam National Defense, is launched to continually affirm and elucidate Vietnam's defense policies, building trust with countries and friends in the international community, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Chi Vinh said at the launching event on Monday.

The paper featured three main parts namely strategic context and national defense policy, building the all-people national defense, and people's army, militia and self-defense force.

This is the fourth document of the type Vietnam has published so far. The first three were released in 1998, 2004 and 2009, respectively.
