KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's producer price index for local production declined 2.9 percent in October from the same month last year, official data showed Thursday.
According to Malaysian Statistics Department statement, the producer price index was dragged mainly by mining index which declined 18.2 percent; water supply and manufacturing indices that fell 1.8 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively.
In contrast, the index of agriculture, forestry and fishing, as well as electricity and gas supply rose 1.5 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively.
As compared to the previous month, the producer price index for local production decreased 0.2 percent in October, due to the decline in the index of mining, agriculture, forestry and fishing, as well as electricity and gas supply.
