PHNOM PENH, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Two workers died and more than 10 others got injured after a pagoda's dining hall, that is under construction, collapsed in northwest Cambodia's Siem Reap province on Monday afternoon, a senior provincial police officer said.
Brigadier General Phing Sambath, deputy police chief of Siem Reap province, said the accident occurred at around 3:00 p.m. local time at a dining hall in Prasat Korkchak pagoda in Siem Reap city.
"As of 5:00 p.m., two workers were found dead, and more than 10 people were pulled out of the debris alive, and rescue is still going on," he told Xinhua.
According to Sambath, the 30-meter-by-40-meter dining hall collapsed when the workers were preparing to construct the first floor slab.
Fresh News service provider reported that about 20 people were trapped in the hall when it collapsed.
