COLOMBO, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's national air carrier, SriLankan Airlines, was awarded the "World's Leading Airline to the Indian Ocean" title at the final of the World Travel Awards (WTA) held in Muscat, Oman recently, the airline said in a statement here Wednesday.
SriLankan Airlines was also nominated for the titles "World's Leading Airline," "World's Leading Airline - Business Class," "World's Leading Airline - Economy" and "World's Leading Cultural Airline."
SriLankan Airlines' Chief Executive Officer Vipula Gunatilleka said the airlines' expansion efforts have been in line with the market demands and it anticipates a few more connectivity additions in the coming months.
"Our global connectivity across other key regions has invariably made us a popular choice of travel to and from the Indian Subcontinent via our Colombo hub," Gunatilleka said.
The Airline has been defending the coveted title since 2016 and in October this year the Airline also won the "Asia's Leading Airline to the Indian Ocean" title at the WTA Asia Oceania ceremony.
