ATHENS, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Thursday accepted the resignation of Deputy Foreign Minister Antonis Diamataris, according to an e-mailed announcement issued from the Prime Minister's office.

The resignation was submitted in the wake of media reports over misleading information contained in Diamataris' CV which was posted on the ministry's website.

According to the curriculum vitae posted on the website, Diamataris holds a master's degree from Columbia University in the U.S.. The university stated, however, that he only enrolled but did not finish his studies.

In his letter of resignation, Diamataris said he was deeply disappointed for the criticism triggered by a misunderstanding. He said he was a target of personal attacks and did not want to allow any harm being made to the government's work.
