PARIS, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Canadian Kevin Drury and Sweden's Sandra Naeslund took the opening victories of the FIS Ski Cross World Cup season in Val Thorens, France on Friday.
The season opener returned to the French resort after last year's event was cancelled due to bad weather.
31-year-old Drury beat Frenchman Youri Duplessis Kergomard and Ryan Regez to win the opener, while the 2014 Olympic gold medalist Jean-Frederic Chapuis was ranked 4th.
On the women's side, Naeslund bested Canadian skiers Courtney Hoffos, India Sherret and Marielle Thompson to take victory.
The Tour will continue in Val Thorens on Saturday, before moving on to Austria's Montafon on December 14.
