ATHENS, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Greek parliament passed on Friday a taxation bill aimed to ease the tax burden on households and enterprises and woo investors, Greek national news agency AMNA reported.

The new legislation foresees among others reductions of income tax for all individual taxpayers, reduction of the corporate income tax from 28 to 24 percent, tax incentives for start-ups, extra benefits to support families with children, measures to reduce red tape, facilitate investments and tackle tax dodging.

"We didn't solve all the country's problems with this bill, but all households will see reductions," said Finance Minister Christos Staikouras, addressing the assembly shortly before the vote.

For the government it is a significant first step to reverse the over-taxation which holds back growth and increases tax evasion, the Greek official said.
