LONDON, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Liverpool's lead at the top of the Premier League looks to be more secure than ever this weekend as they took all three points from their visit to Bournemouth, while Manchester City and Chelsea both lost.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp rested players ahead of next week's vital Champions League visit to Salzburg, but his side were still too strong for their rivals.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain opened the scoring in the 34th minute and the points were almost secure when Naby Keita added a second on the stroke of half-time, before Mohamed Salah rounded off the scoring ten minutes after the break.

Manchester United claimed what must have been one of their sweetest wins in a long time as they beat local rivals Manchester City 2-1 at City's Etihad Stadium.

Just as he had been against Tottenham a week previously, Marcus Rashford was virtually unstoppable and scored a 23rd minute penalty as he and Anthony Martial took advantage of further weak defending from Pep Guardiola's side to be 2-0 up by the half hour.

Nicolas Otamendi gave City an 85th minute lifeline, but United held on to take a huge win and leave City a massive (and surely unsurmountable) 14 points behind Liverpool.

Everton sacked Marco Silva as coach in the wake of their 5-2 thrashing at Anfield in midweek and put Duncan Ferguson in temporary charge.

The former Everton striker certainly helped provoke a reaction from a previously underperforming squad, as goals from Richarlison and a double from Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave the Blues a surprising 3-1 win at home to Chelsea.

Chelsea received news on Friday that they will be able to make new signings in January after a FIFA transfer ban was halved, and on Saturday's evidence coach Frank Lampard will be moving to strengthen his central defense.

Once again, Leicester City were the only team to keep pace with Liverpool, as Jamie Vardy netted twice in their 4-1 win away to Aston Villa to help them claim their eighth successive away win.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Jonny Evans were also on target for Leicester as coach Brendan Rodgers celebrated his new contract with the club in fine style.

Harry Kane and Lucas Moura put Tottenham 2-0 up inside the first 10 minutes of their 5-0 win at home to Burnley, but even though Kane went on to add a second, all eyes were on Son Heung-min, whose 32nd minute wonder goal saw him collect the ball on the edge of his own area before running the length of the pitch, holding off several challenges and scoring at the other end.

Federico Fernandez scored the winning goal five minutes from the end as Newcastle United fought back from Danny Ings' fifth goal in five games to beat Southampton 2-1.

Jonjo Shelvey, who last weekend scored against Manchester City, headed the equalizer that put Newcastle on track for their fourth win from their last six games.

Goals from Sheffield United full-backs Enda Stevens and George Baldock in the 49th and 52nd minutes helped the Blades stage a quick-fire comeback to beat Norwich City 2-1 at Carrow Road and retain their unbeaten record away from home.

Alex Tettey had opened the scoring for Norwich, who remain second from bottom.

Watford remain bottom with just one win all season as they were held 0-0 at home to Crystal Palace, while the weekend ended with Brighton and Wolves sharing four goals which all came in the first half.
