BANGKOK, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Thai state and private sectors will be producing biodegradable plastic bags as another replacement for single-use plastic bags, said the Thai Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation on Tuesday.
The ministry said the bags are made from tapioca, in accordance with the concept of BCG (bio, circular and green) economy.
"Narong Sirilertworakul, president of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and I had already surveyed and inspected the production of biodegradable plastic made from tapioca," said Suvit Maesincee, minister of higher education, science, research and innovation.
