BEIRUT, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Hezbollah slammed on Wednesday Bahrain for hosting a religious forum that allowed the participation of Israel, the National News Agency reported.

In a statement, the Lebanese Shiite political party criticized the Gulf country for disregarding the Lebanese and Palestinian "martyrs" killed by Israeli attacks in the past years.

"Bahrain is being turned into an American and Israeli platform with the aim to gain access to the heart of the Arab and Islamic nation," Hezbollah said.

Shlomo Amar, chief rabbi of Jerusalem, also took part in the forum along with clerics from Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and other Arab and Islamic countries.

Amar said he hopes Israel and Bahrain facilitate mutual visits between the two countries without the need for special coordination.
