LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Nominations for the 26th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards were revealed on Wednesday at the Pacific Design Center's SilverScreen Theater in West Hollywood, Los Angeles County.

Sony Pictures' comedy-drama film "Once Upon a Time In Hollywood," Netflix's epic crime film "The Irishman" and Lionsgate's drama film "Bombshell" tied for the most nominations with four each on the film side.

South Korean black comedy thriller "Parasite" scored a best ensemble nomination, becoming only the second foreign-language film to race for the top prize in the SAG Awards history. The film follows the members of a poor household scheming to become employees of a much wealthier family by posing as unrelated, highly-qualified individuals. It's the first South Korean film to win the coveted Palme d'Or at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival in May.

The SAG ensemble award is widely considered the equivalent of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' best picture Oscar. Other nominees for best ensemble were "Bombshell," "The Irishman," "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," and Fox's black comedy film "Jojo Rabbit."

Christian Bale won the nod for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of the famous race car driver Ken Miles in "Ford v Ferrari," as did Joaquin Phoenix for "Joker," Leonardo DiCaprio for "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," Adam Driver for "Marriage Story" and Taron Egerton for "Rocketman."

Cynthia Erivo, who stars in the biographical film "Harriet" as American iconic abolitionist Harriet Tubman, will be up against Scarlett Johansson ("Marriage Story"), Lupita Nyong'o ("Us"), Charlize Theron ("Bombshell") and Renee Zellweger ("Judy") for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.

Al Pacino and Joe Pesci both got nods for their superlative work in "The Irishman" for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role. They will face competition from Jamie Foxx ("Just Mercy"), Tom Hanks ("A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood") and Brad Pitt ("Once Upon a Time in Hollywood").

"Bombshell" stars Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie will be duking it out against Laura Dern ("Marriage Story"), Scarlett Johansson ("Jojo Rabbit") and Jennifer Lopez ("Hustlers") to see who will be crowned for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role.

"Avengers: Endgame," "Ford v Ferrari," "The Irishman," "Joker" and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" were nominated for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture.

On the TV side, Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" led the nomination with four honors, followed by Netflix's "The Crown," Amazon's "Fleabag," HBO's "Game of Thrones," Netflix's "The Kominsky Method," Apple TV+'s "The Morning Show," and Netflix's "Stranger Things," with three nods respectively.

"The Crown," "Game of Thrones," "Stranger Things," Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale," and HBO's "Big Little Lies" will compete for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series while "Fleabag," "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," HBO's "Barry," Netflix's "The Kominsky Method" and Pop TV's "Schitt's Creek" will stand out for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

The SAG Awards, given by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) to recognize outstanding performances in film and prime time television, are generally considered a strong predictor of who will pick up Oscar nominations for performing.

The 26th annual SAG Awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Jan. 19, 2020.
