DONGGUAN, China, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Thanks to Ren Junfei's buzzer-beater, Guangdong Southern Tigers beat Zhejiang Golden Bulls 108-106 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Thursday, extending their winning streak to 12.
The two teams tied at 106-all before Ren Junfei made a layup with only 0.8 seconds to go, which was not enough to complete a final shot for Zhejiang.
Marshon Brooks scored a team-high 28 points and Sonny Weems added 26 for Guangdong, while Ren Junfei had 19 points and Yi Jianlian had 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Marcus Edward Denmon scored a game-high 29 points for Zhejiang. Earlier in the game, Zhao Rui led Guangdong on a 6-0 run before Zhejiang made immediate counterattack and the scoreline tied at 29-all to end the first quarter.
Brooks shined in the second quarter, lifting Guandong to a 55-48 lead into halftime.
After the break, Guangdong held their advantage well and led 87-81 into the last quarter.
Denmon and Zhu Xuhang buried two 3-pointers to cut the deficit, setting up the late drama.
