BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- The first intelligent newsroom of China's Xinhua News Agency was officially put into use on Thursday, starting an intelligent revolution in news production and communication.
The intelligent newsroom is an important starting point to speed up the construction of a new world-class news agency and comprehensively improve the agency's all-media editorial capacity while helping to promote the further development of media integration, the agency's president Cai Mingzhao said.
Based on artificial intelligence (AI) and characterized by human-computer cooperation, the newsroom reconstructs the whole process and system of news production, aiming at greatly improving the innovation capability and the production and communication efficiency of new media products.
The intelligent newsroom uses the Media Brain camera news robot and Eagle Eye intelligent monitoring system to identify emergencies and discover hot spots at an ultra-early stage. Reporters can use the Live Cloud mobile collection system, smartphones and augmented reality (AR) smart glasses to launch live broadcasts at any time.
The newsroom uses intelligent tools and platforms such as the Media Brain and an AI anchor to intelligently produce all-media products of more than 30 categories such as texts, pictures, short videos, virtual reality (VR) and AR segments.
Based on user profiling technology, the newsroom can also achieve the object-oriented transformation of news content.
The agency's editors and reporters said that with the help of the intelligent system, productivity can be increased by three to five times, saving considerable time and energy and allowing them to invest more in creative innovation.
