GAZA, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Israeli soldiers shot and killed on Tuesday night a Palestinian militant who approached the fence of the border between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel, Israeli and Palestinian sources said.

An Israeli army spokesman showed a short video in black and white of a Palestinian who was holding a rifle approaching the fence of the borders between eastern Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip and Israel.

The spokesman said that the Israeli army dealt with the gunman and hit him.

Palestinian security sources and eyewitnesses said that Israeli soldiers shot and killed on Tuesday night a Palestinian young man who approached the fence of the borders between eastern Khan Younis and Israel.

They said that Abdulla Abu Nasser, resident of eastern Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip, was killed, after he was hit by a missile fired from an Israeli army drone, adding that an Israeli army force took his body and pulled it into Israel.

The borders area between the Gaza Strip, which is ruled by the Islamic Hamas movement, and Israel, has been witnessing violent tension since the start of the Great March of Return in March 2018.
