BAKU, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijani and Ukrainian presidents reiterated mutual support for both countries' sovereignty and territorial integrity as they met in Baku on Tuesday.

"Ukraine and Azerbaijan support each other on the issues of restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of both states in accordance with the international law," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told a press conference after the meeting during his first official visit to Azerbaijan.

"Ensuring regional and national security was a key topic of our discussion today. Most importantly, it was about the war in east Ukraine and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," the Ukrainian leader noted.

Zelensky said Ukraine and Azerbaijan would continue joint work in this field both in a bilateral format, and in international organizations.

He also stressed the importance of mutual investment, highlighting opportunities for implementing joint projects in this area.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said they discussed prospects for bilateral trade as well as tourism, humanitarian, agriculture, energy, transport and investment cooperation.

The two presidents on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting before the discussion joined by their delegations.

Aliyev and Zelensky witnessed the signing of bilateral documents, including an agreement on the establishment of Baku-Kiev intergovernmental communication line and cooperations in other fields.

Zelensky is paying a two-day official visit to Baku. He also had a working lunch with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov. The two presidents attended the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Business Forum.
