BANGKOK, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- A key anti-drink-driving advocacy group in Thailand Thursday launched a center here to provide legal assistance to victims of alleged drink-driving drivers.
The center is opened 24 hours to provide free legal assistance to victims or parties affected by drink-driving cases, said Thaejing Siripanit, secretary-general of the Don't Drive Drunk Foundation.
Thaejing said his foundation will provide lawyers who will volunteer to help drink-driving victims cope with legal hassles.
Thaejing, who has been campaigning against drink-driving for 23 years, said at the launch of the center that there have been many cases where irresponsible drivers exploited loopholes to avoid prosecution for drink-driving and paying compensation to victims.
The government should roll out a policy to make installing dash cams in the vehicle a priority, he said, believing it will go well with the government's much-touted Thailand 4.0 policy, which promotes technological advances to improve public services.
The cameras will record all events happening in front of cars. This will make motorists think twice before committing mistakes, he said.
