YAN'AN, Dec. 20, 2019 (Xinhua) -- Zhidan County of Shaanxi Province is located on the Loess Plateau, therefor its traditional wedding customs are actually a combination of grassland culture, farming culture, and traditional Chinese culture. Dating back to the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), the wedding customs are kept basically intact and now ranked a city-level intangible cultural heritage.
With the development of society, the simplicity of wedding customs is becoming a new trend, accelerating the extinction of the traditional style. The local government has been trying to preserve and pass on the traditional wedding customs through various approaches. Except for archives recorded, traditional wedding ceremony performance is one of the most popular activities to get people close to the customs.
