GENEVA, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Three-time Olympic champion Kamil Stoch of Poland collected his first gold of the season at the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup in Engelberg, Switzerland on Saturday.

The 32-year-old posted two jumps of 138 meters and 136m with a total of 288.7 points to top the podium, while Stefan Kraft of Austria took the silver in 134.5m, 137.5m and 287.0 points. German jumper Karl Geiger (133.5m, 135m and 277.6 points) ranked third in the competition.

Stoch didn't start the new season well as he only achieved podium once at Wisla in November with home advantage. The polish star finally found his best form as he presented two high-caliber jumps in Engelberg.

"I really like the atmosphere here in Engelberg and I always enjoy coming here. Of course, this makes it even better for me to win here. You just have to remain focused on your jump," Stoch noted.

The long-waiting victory marks the 34th World Cup titles for the Polish to rank fifth in the history of the sport, only trailing behind Gregor Schlierenzauer (53), Matti Nykaenen (46), Adam Malysz (39), and Janne Ahonen (36).

In addition, Kraft, who made a podium finish for the third time in a row, surpassed Japan's Kobayashi Ryoyu with 356 World Cup points to take the yellow bib of the overall World Cup leader.
