BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- The central Argentinian city of Rosario has inaugurated an organized tour in honor of Argentina and Barcelona captain Lionel Messi.
The "Messi Tour" is included in a Rosario Turism app that guides fans through 10 stops that marked Messi's childhood in Argentina's third largest city.
They include the place where he was born, the school he attended, his first club and the block where he grew up before moving to Barcelona with his family aged 13.
The 32-year-old, who has won the Ballon d'Or a record six times, is only the fifth Rosario native to be bestowed with an official tour by the City Hall. The others are guerrilla Che Guevara, sculptor Lucio Fontana, humorist Roberto Fontanarrosa and actor Alberto Olmedo.
Messi is currently in Rosario to spend Christmas with his family. He is expected to return to Barcelona on January 1 ahead of the Catalan club's visit to Espanol three days later.
