RABAT, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Moroccan security services have seized a total of 179,657 kg of cannabis in 2019, the Moroccan police revealed in its annual report.
The Moroccan police also seized 542 kg of cocaine and over 1.4 million hallucinogenic tablets, including 974,983 ecstasy tablets imported from Europe, according to the police statistics published on Wednesday by local media.
The number of individuals arrested in drug-related cases, reached 127,049, an increase of 38 percent year-on-year.
Despite efforts to crack down on cannabis cultivation during the past decade, Morocco remains one of the world's largest producers of the narcotic plant, according to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.
