CAIRO, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed the recent developments in the talks on Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam in a phone call, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.
During the phone call late on Thursday, al-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the U.S. support for the talks between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia.
Trump expressed his wish to see talks "be successful and yield positive and fair results for all parties," the statement said.
On Wednesday, Egypt's Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation said Egypt sticks to its proposals regarding the filling and operation of Ethiopia's new upstream dam on the Nile River
Egypt seeks a minimum annual flow of 40 billion cubic meters of water from the Blue Nile branch while Ethiopia proposes an annual passage of 35 billion cubic meters.
Negotiations involving Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan have been fruitless for years. They recently started new rounds of talks with the mediation of the United States and the participation of the World Bank.
