KATHMANDU, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese film festival kicked off here on Friday offering an insight of China's rich history and modern development to the Nepali audiences.
The festival was jointly inaugurated by Nepali Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi.
The festival was opened at QFX Cinemas at Kumari Hall in the capital city with the screening of the documentary film The Parade of 70th Anniversary of the People's Republic of China.
Before the screening, Nepali Minister Bhattarai expressed hope that Nepali people could learn and understand more about China's progress through the Chinese film festival.
"Films are the reflection of human suffering, inventions, modern development and culture," the minister remarked, adding that Nepal and China have many things in common, particularly rich culture.
Ambassador Hou said that through the festival, more Nepali people can understand about China and help promote Sino-Nepali friendship.
Besides Kathmandu, the festival will be held in the touristic city Pokhara and religious city Lumbini.
