5.3-magnitude quake hits North Pacific Ocean -- USGS

WASHINGTON, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- A 5.3-magnitude earthquake jolted North Pacific Ocean at 2224 GMT on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 214.6 km, was initially determined to be at 40.6558 degrees north latitude and 153.8907 degrees west longitude.
